Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to travel to the Himalayas?
Yes. Traveling with Summit Routes is safe—we carefully design all itineraries with risk management, licensed guides, and support staff. Remote regions do have challenges, but safety is always our top priority.
Why travel with Summit Routes?
Because we offer more than just a trip—we deliver an authentic Himalayan experience. With decades of on-ground expertise, local partnerships, and eco-friendly practices, our guests enjoy seamless logistics, fair pricing, and unforgettable journeys.
Can I customize a trip?
Absolutely. Most of our travelers request customizations. You can adjust trip length, difficulty, accommodation level, activities, or even combine trekking with cultural tours.
Do you arrange trips not listed on your website?
Yes. If your destination is within our operating regions (India, Nepal, Bhutan), we can usually arrange it. For other destinations, we can either design a program or connect you to trusted partners.
How long does it take to receive a quotation?
We reply to all standard trip requests within 24 hours. More complex custom itineraries may take slightly longer, but we’ll keep you updated throughout the process.
How do I book a trip?
Simply click the **Book Now** button on any trip page or use our **Contact Form**. After confirming details, we’ll send payment and cancellation policies. A deposit is required to secure your booking; full payment depends on departure date.
How difficult are the treks and expeditions?
We offer everything from beginner-friendly cultural treks to challenging high-altitude expeditions. Each trip page shows a **difficulty grade**. Contact us for advice—we’ll help you find the right trek based on fitness, altitude experience, and comfort level.
What are your guides’ qualifications?
Our mountain guides are carefully selected, many holding certifications from Mountaineering Associations. Cultural and trekking guides are chosen for knowledge, language skills, and customer care. Even in remote regions, we ensure you have the best available experts.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance (including trekking at high altitudes) is mandatory for all our trips. It should cover medical evacuation, trip cancellation, and lost baggage.
Do I need a visa for my trip?
Visa requirements vary by country. Nepal offers visas on arrival; Bhutan requires pre-arranged visas through licensed tour operators (we handle it); India and Pakistan require e-visas or embassy-issued visas. Tibet requires permits in addition to a Chinese visa, which we arrange for you. Tajikistan offers e-visas for most nationalities. We’ll guide you through the process after booking.
What is the usual group size?
We keep our groups small (6–12 people) to ensure personalized service, better safety, and minimal environmental impact. Private departures are also available on request.
What should I pack?
We provide a detailed packing list after booking. Essentials include layered clothing, sturdy trekking boots, reusable water bottles, and personal medication. For expeditions, specialized gear may be required—we’ll guide you step by step.
