Mount Harmukh Expedition (5,142 m) | Alpine Climb & Trek in Kashmir Himalayas
Mount Harmukh Expedition (5,142 m) – Overview
The Mount Harmukh Expedition is a classic Himalayan ascent and one of Kashmir’s most striking alpine challenges.
Towering at 5,142 meters (16,870 ft) above the twin lakes of Gangbal and Nundkul,
Harmukh is revered as the Kailash of Kashmir and stands as the
third-highest peak in the Kashmir Himalayas.
Its snowbound ridges, glaciers, and granite walls make it both beautiful and formidable.
This 8-day expedition (Srinagar to Srinagar) combines scenic trekking with a thrilling summit climb —
following the route pioneered by Alpine Adventurers’ 2023 ascent,
and echoing the new alpine-style line opened by the Indian team via the
West Couloir and Northwest Ridge.
The approach through Kudara and Sarbal Lake unfolds through lush valleys,
alpine meadows, and glacier moraine, before the technical push over snow and ice to the summit.
Ideal for experienced trekkers or beginner mountaineers, this expedition offers a perfect blend of adventure,
high-altitude challenge, and the serene landscapes of Kashmir.
From the shimmering lakes below to the vast views of
K2, Nanga Parbat, and the Karakoram range,
Harmukh rewards every climber with an unforgettable Himalayan experience.
