Bhutan Snowman Trek

Snowman Trek – Overview

The Snowman Trek is Bhutan’s ultimate high-altitude expedition — one of the most challenging and rewarding treks in the world. Traversing the remote northern frontier along the border of Tibet, this legendary 24-day journey weaves through the most rugged and least-explored corners of the Himalayas, passing over eleven high mountain passes (many above 5,000 meters), pristine glacial valleys, and traditional yak herder settlements.

Starting and ending in Paro, the adventure begins with a hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery, followed by a gradual ascent through rhododendron forests and alpine meadows toward Mount Jomolhari Base Camp. The route continues deep into Bhutan’s highlands — through Lingshi, Laya, Thanza, and Bumthang — revealing a landscape of snow-capped peaks, turquoise glacial lakes, and isolated mountain villages untouched by time.

Often called “the toughest trek in the world,” the Snowman demands endurance and acclimatization but rewards trekkers with unmatched beauty, solitude, and a profound sense of accomplishment. It’s a spiritual and physical journey across the heart of the Himalayas, offering an experience that few adventurers on Earth ever achieve.
