Jomolhari Circuit Trek Itinerary (Paro to Paro, 12 Days)
Day 1: Arrival in Paro (2,250m)
Warm welcome at Paro International Airport. Transfer to hotel. If time allows, stroll Paro town and acclimatize in the fresh Himalayan air. Evening trek briefing & traditional Bhutanese dinner.

Day 2: Tiger’s Nest Hike – Paro Valley
Morning hike to the legendary Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest, 3,120m) – Bhutan’s most iconic site perched on a cliff. Afternoon visit to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Evening at leisure in Paro.

Day 3: Paro – Shana (2,850m) | Drive 2 hrs, Trek 5–6 hrs
Drive north of Paro valley to Drukgyel Dzong ruins, then begin trekking along the Paro Chu River through rice paddies, villages, and pine forests. Gradual ascent to Shana camp.

Day 4: Shana – Soi Thangthangkha (3,610m) | Trek 7–8 hrs
A long but scenic day following the river through deep forests of oak, birch, and rhododendron. As you approach camp, the first glimpse of Mount Jomolhari (7,326m) may appear.

Day 5: Soi Thangthangkha – Jangothang (Jomolhari Base Camp, 4,080m) | Trek 5–6 hrs
Gradual climb through yak herders’ settlements and alpine meadows. Arrive at Jangothang Base Camp, one of the most beautiful campsites in the Himalayas, with superb views of Jomolhari and Jichu Drake peaks.

Day 6: Acclimatization at Jomolhari Base Camp
Rest and acclimatization day. Options include a short hike to Tsophu twin lakes or climbing nearby ridges for panoramic views of Jomolhari, Jichu Drake, and Tserim Kang. Perfect photography day.

Day 7: Jangothang – Lingshi (4,010m) | Trek 6–7 hrs
Cross the Nyile La Pass (4,890m) with dramatic views. Descend to the valley where the ancient Lingshi Dzong overlooks yak pastures and mountains.

Day 8: Lingshi – Shodu (4,100m) | Trek 7–8 hrs
Trek past remote villages and climb to Yeli La Pass (4,930m), the highest point of the trek, with stunning sights of Mount Jomolhari, Gangchhenta, and Masagang. Long descent to Shodu campsite.

Day 9: Shodu – Barshong (3,710m) | Trek 5–6 hrs
Walk along the Thimphu Chu River, through rhododendron forests and dramatic cliffs. Camp near the ruins of Barshong Dzong.

Day 10: Barshong – Dolam Kencho – Thimphu (2,320m) | Trek 5–6 hrs, Drive 1.5 hrs
Final trek through forests of birch, hemlock, and bamboo. Meet vehicle and drive to Bhutan’s capital Thimphu. Evening free to explore cafes, handicraft shops, or simply rest.

Day 11: Thimphu Sightseeing – Drive to Paro
Visit Buddha Dordenma, Memorial Chorten, Tashichho Dzong, and the Folk Heritage Museum. Afternoon drive back to Paro for last-night shopping and farewell dinner.

Day 12: Departure from Paro
After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for onward journey. Farewell from the Land of the Thunder Dragon.
